How to Replace a Shock Absorber in a Suspension Strut Assembly (FE1, FE3) on 2008 Cadillac DTS?

The Coil Springs require careful handling during replacement before assembly because coating damage leads to early failure of the fe1 and fe3 strut components. Begin by removing the upper mounting bolts from the struts then use a device to elevate the vehicle. First remove the tire and wheel before disconnecting the wheel speed sensor wiring harness and sliding off the wheel speed sensor bracket attached to the strut. The brake line bracket mounting bolt needs removal from the strut before moving to the strut to steering knuckle bolts and nuts so you can extract the strut from the vehicle. Insert the strut after lowering the vehicle into position. Torque the upper strut mounting bolts to 60 n.m (44 lb ft). Raise the vehicle a second time and install brand new bolts and nuts that connect the strut to the steering knuckle while tightening them to 147 n.m (108 lb ft). The brake line bracket must be installed on the strut with the mounting bolt while tightening both elements to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Next, attach the wheel speed sensor bracket through its mounting bolt and torque it to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Connect the wheel speed sensor wiring harness to the bracket that is attached to the strut. When complete install the wheel alongside the tire and then lower your car to its normal riding height.
