How to Replace a Shock Absorber (FE1, FE3) on 2009 Cadillac DTS?

The first step for Shock Absorber replacement (FE1 or FE3) involves vehicle raising with proper support. Begin Shock Absorber replacement by first removing the wheel along with the tire before supporting the lower Control Arm with a jack. Remove the electronic level control air tube along with the shock electrical connector after disconnecting them from the Control Arm. Then remove the wiring from this part. To reach both upper and lower part of the shock you must first remove the control-arm shock bolts before pulling out the trunk trim panel. First remove the upper shock dust cover followed by the removal of 2 nuts and reinforcement piece from the shock before pulling it out of the vehicle. Install the new shock to the vehicle by placing it properly and then attach the upper mount to it. Position the shock reinforcement along with its two nuts before securing them to a torque of 25 nm (18 lb ft). Install the shock cover and correctly position the trunk trim after that step. Proceed with installing lower shock bolts while tightening them to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Next, attach the electronic air control air tube together with the electrical connector before directing wiring along the Control Arm (FE3 and FE45). Reposition the wheel along with tire before tightening the wheel nuts up to 125 nm (80 lb ft). The procedure of vehicle wheel installation begins with starting the ignition then waiting 45 seconds for the alc system to finish the arc while ensuring Shock Absorber air reservoirs receive residual pressure. Finally, lower the vehicle.
