2008 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Rear Axle Lower Control Arm (FE7) on 2008 Cadillac DTS?
A: The first step to replace the Front Bypass Rod (FE7) requires the removal of the rear suspension support assembly. Start by removing the stabilizer link bolt together with potential hub and bearing components. Before removing the control arm uninstall the bolts from both the support bracket while also disassembling the system that connects the control arm to the rear suspension support assembly. The control arm nuts should be tightened using a vehicle setup with unsupported stance on normal wheels at normal trim height. The installation sequence begins with control arm placement into the rear suspension support assembly and may require hub and bearing installation later. The installation requires new stabilizer link hardware and torque application at 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Install the rear suspension support assembly then fasten its support bracket bolts. Lower the vehicle to reach its required trim height then use torque wrenches to tighten control arm nuts to 149 N.m (110 lb ft) before finishing the vehicle's lowering process.
