• Q: How to replace the LH secondary camshaft timing chain on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

  A: To replace the left Timing Chain, you will first remove the right Timing Chain, then the left Timing Chain Tensioner and at last the left camshaft cover. Make sure both the camshaft sprocket drive pins are at the top of its revolution and then place the camshaft holding tool (J 44212) over the camshafts. Apply an open end wrench to the hex cast on to the camshaft to prevent rotation when removing the left intake camshaft sprocket bolt. Slip off the left intake camshaft sprocket from the camshaft and take off the left Timing Chain from the teeth of the camshaft sprocket, then pull it from the teeth of the camshaft intermediate drive shaft sprocket and remove it from the engine. Clean and inspect the camshaft timing drive components prior to installing the new left Timing Chain by sliding it down from the left part of the cylinder head and putting it on the left exhaust camshaft sprocket. Mount the chain around the inner teeth of the camshaft intermediate drive shaft sprocket, and then install the left intake camshaft sprocket at the top and onto the camshaft so that the sprocket notch marked li comes into contact with the inlet camshaft pin. Once more use the open end wrench so that it brakes when tightening with the camshaft sprocket bolt to 120n.m (89lb ft). Lastly, take off the camshaft holding tool (J 44212) and install the left camshaft cover, the left Timing Chain Tensioner, and the right Timing Chain.
