2007 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a standard cooling system on 2007 Cadillac SRX?
A: The procedure to replace a standard cooling system condenser starts by recovering refrigerant followed by vehicle elevation and support. The procedure begins by taking off the retainers on the front air deflector and the deflector itself and then the push pin retainers on the lower air baffle. Unscrew the condenser upper bracket bolts and condenser lower mounting bolts and discharge line bolt before releasing the discharge line from the condenser and discarding the O-ring. Then disconnect and remove the condenser tube bolt while you separate the condenser tube from the condenser and discard the O-ring. Remove condenser retaining bolts securing power steering cooler line then remove the condenser from the system. Before installing a new condenser you must put the designated PAG oil amount directly on it. Fasten the condenser and power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts and tighten them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Put a fresh O-ring onto the condenser tube which you connect to the condenser and then lock it using the condenser tube bolt tightened to 9 N.m (80 lb in). The new O-ring must be installed to the discharge line which should be connected to the condenser before securement by tightening the discharge line bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Apply 5.4 N.m (48 lb in) torque to the condenser lower mounting bolts then the condenser upper bracket bolts until they also reach 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). After completing the lower air baffle and front air deflector installations you can lower the vehicle. Complete the installation by tightening the power steering cooler mounting bolts then evacuate the A/C system before recharging it. This is followed by conducting a leak test of component fittings using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
