• Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a standard cooling system on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: To replace the condenser that is found in a standard cooling system, the following should be done. First, recover the refrigerant. Then, lift and immobilize the vehicle. However, remove all the front air deflector retainers and the front air deflector, the lower air baffle push pin retainers. Next, take out condenser upper bracket bolts and lower mounting bolts, and discharge line bolt, and detach the discharge line from the condenser, discarding O-ring. Move to remove the condenser tube bolt and separate the condenser tube from the condenser and dispose of the O-ring. Remove bolts that hold the power steering cooler line to condenser retaining and remove the condenser. If changing the condenser, add the mentioned quantity of PAG oil into it and before setting up the new condenser. Torque install the power steering cooler line to the condenser retaining bolts, to the limits of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Put in a new O-ring on the condenser tube, connect the condenser tube to the condenser, and fasten the condenser tube bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in). New O-ring to the discharge line, connection to the condenser, and installation of the discharge line bolt tightened to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Mount the condenser lower bolts by tightening them at an up torque of 5.4 N.m (48 lb in), proceed with mounting the upper condenser bracket bolts and tighten at an up torque of 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). Replacing the lower air baffle push pin retainers, the front air deflector, and the front air deflector retainers. Shed the vehicle and tighten the power steering cooler bolts. Finally, evacuated the A/C system and have a leak test on the fittings of the component & used Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
