2007 Cadillac STS Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Cadillac STS?
A: To repair the vacuum Brake Booster start by collecting a Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). First detach the left panel covering before taking out its Pushrod retaining clip and the Pushrod connected to the Brake Pedal. Take out the cross vehicle brace if it exists in the system. Keep the brake pipes connected to the master cylinder while working. Place the master cylinder in a safe location after taking it away from the vacuum Brake Booster. Take away the air inlet grille panel to free the vacuum Brake Booster locking tab but keep the coolant and surge tank outlet hose connected. Locate the surge tank inlet hose and disconnect it then push it aside. Unscrew the surge tank bolts and move it away while reattaching its inlet hose to lessen coolant waste. Prepare the session by moving the vacuum Brake Booster check valve aside for separate handling. Insert the master cylinder nuts onto the Brake Booster holder j 22805-b and let it attach to the vacuum Brake Booster. Unlock the vacuum Brake Booster from the cowl front by using a flat-blade tool to push down the locking tab during counterclockwise booster turn. Take the vacuum Brake Booster out from the cowl mount by holding it securely. Depress the vacuum Brake Booster foam filter to reach the retaining clip. Pull up the longer leg of the clip to take out the Pushrod from the Brake Booster. Keep all internal parts unworkable while maintaining the housing without loosing fixation. Insert the vacuum Brake Booster push rod into the dust boot of the cowl and straighten the locking bar if needed. Mount the Brake Booster against the Pushrod while pressing the long leg of the retainer clip into its machined groove. Press the vacuum Brake Booster onto the Pushrod until its retaining clip leg slots correctly. Place the booster so its tab connects to the locking slots when rotating it counterwise until both parts fit together. Rotate the vacuum Brake Booster clockwise with a ratchet using Brake Booster holder j 22805-b installation tool to avoid installing the Brake Booster with a flat blade. Right installation makes the locking tab run along the flange to meet its locking recess. Reunite the vacuum hose and check valve assembly after taking off the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). Set the vacuum Brake Booster parts in their correct positions while connecting the coolant surge tank, its hose, and the air intake panel together with the master cylinder. Connect the cross vehicle brace if needed followed by connecting the Brake Booster Pushrod to the Brake Pedal and securing it through the retaining clip. Reinstall the left side cover at the end.
