2007 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace battery cables on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: You must take apart the battery negative cable from its battery connection before you start. Turn off the battery positive connection nut to release the cable from its mount at the battery. Unscrew the fuse/relay center stud cover then take off the battery positive cable nut while detaching its lead from the fuse/relay center stud. Detach the battery clips first and unclip the battery negative cable from the frame rail metal bolt. First take the Battery Cable bolt off and then take off the battery negative cable and engine harness ground pack secured on the right rear cylinder head. Remove the supercharger afterwards. Pull off the starter jumper wires from the engine harness connection before taking off the positive Battery Cable terminal nut and unthreading the connections from the starter solenoid. To unplug the battery power cable disconnect the generator boot from its track on the cable then loosen the battery power cable nut before removing the terminal from its stud. Unfasten the bolt holding the cable and clip to the engine's front and take away the battery positives and negative wires. First secure the Battery Cable terminals before threading the battery positive pioneer and negative elements. Insert the battery positive/starter/generator cable terminal at its generator stud and fasten it using the terminal nut in the position between 2 and 4 o'clock. Tighten the nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Push the boot onto the stud and the nut after moving the boot over them. Use bolt to place the routing clip on the engine front and secure it by turning the bolt to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Connect the engine harness leads to the solenoid before fixing the positive cable terminal into place. Wrap the starter solenoid with the two cable terminals and bolt them. Secure the large nut to 12 n.m (106 lb in), and tighten the small nut to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Mount the starter jumper wiring harness through engine harness connector before placing the supercharger. Secure the right rear Battery Cable and ground pack assembly to the cylinder head at the specified location while tightening the cable bolt to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Secure the battery negative cable to the frame rail stud by fitting it into the negative Battery Cable to frame rail nut and tightening it to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Put the battery clips in place using the positive Battery Cable lead to attach with the fuse/relay center stud and install the positive Battery Cable nut secured at 12 n.m (106 lb in). Place the stud cover back in place and attach the positive Battery Cable to the main battery unit while tightening the connecting nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in).
