• Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on 2007 Cadillac XLR?

  A: First, raise and support the vehicle; then, put the oil drain pan in position below the engine oil Drain Plug. Manipulate engine oil Drain Plug and clean and inspect, replace if the condition is required. Clean and check the sealing surface on the Oil Pan for possible repairs or replacement. Then carefully remove the Oil Filter and clean and inspect the sealing area on the Oil Filter adapter, replacing or repairing it if damaged. Before installation fill the new Oil Filter with oil, and lightly oil the gasket with clean oil. Fit the new Oil Filter, tightening to 32 n.m (24 lb ft), then fit the engine oil Drain Plug, tightening to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Lower the vehicle and also fill its engine with new engine oil then check for leaks when the engine is started. Do not use any other type but the special high-performance Oil Filter to avoid filter failure after which the engine suffers from extensive damage.
