2007 Chevrolet Corvette Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat in the cooling system (GE 47716) on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The cooling system needs draining according to ge 47716 because oil in the system affects the operation of both Thermostat and Water Pump. Move the outlet hose clamp to the Water Pump inlet where you will subsequently extract the outlet hose along with the inlet Water Pump bolts before removing the Water Pump inlet. The o-ring seal maintains the Thermostat Housing from failure so it needs to be taken out during the replacement. Install the Thermostat Housing by replacing it properly and verifying that the o-ring seal sits correctly in its groove. Use the Water Pump inlet (equipped with Thermostat) to replace the Water Pump inlet while torquing the bolts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Let's finish the job by reattaching the outlet hose to the Water Pump inlet then adding the outlet hose clamp to the water outlet while filling the cooling system according to ge 47716.
