2007 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Draining engine coolant until it reaches below the ECT sensor level remains the first task when replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Start by disconnecting the ECT sensor harness and then pull out the ECT sensor. The sensor mounting hole of the engine head requires tapping before cleanup to remove thread sealant residue when sensor reuse happens. Use GM P/N 12345382 thread sealant GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent on the sensor threads. After installing the ECT sensor you must use 23 N.m (17 lb ft) as the torque setting. Use care to connect the ECT harness connector correctly until it makes a clicking sound followed by a manual check for proper coupling. Add coolant to the engine until it reaches the specified mark.
