How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?

Before replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor the engine coolant must be drained to a level below the ECT sensor position. The first step involves removing the fuel injector sight shield followed by disconnecting the ECT sensor harness connector before the ECT sensor can be removed. Before using a recycled sensor tap its engine head mounting hole to remove thread sealant residue then thoroughly clean it. Use thread sealant GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent on the sensor threads before tightening the ECT sensor to 23 N.m (17 lb ft). Use care when connecting the ECT sensor harness connector so that it securely moves into position. Verify the engagement through a safe pull back test. After finishing reinstall the fuel injector sight shield and complete the engine cooling system with the proper fluid level.
