2006 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The replacement process for Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensors starts by draining engine coolant to a level below the sensor's position. Separate the ECT sensor harness then take out the temperature sensor. The sensor threads should receive thread sealant GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent before tapping the sensor mounting hole in the engine head to extract all remaining sealant residue. Remove all residue sealant from the previous sensor then apply RTV to your sensor threads when reusing the old sensor. Adjust the ECT sensor at 23 N.m (17 lb ft). Verify secure connection of the ECT sensor harness connector by checking when it snaps into place while performing a manual pull check. After completing the process check and fill engine coolant at the correct measure.
