Start the replacement by disconnecting the Knock Sensor wiring harness electrical connector and removing the Knock Sensor. Do not apply thread sealant to sensor threads because the sensor comes from the factory with a pre-applied coating that would otherwise block detonation detection performance. Fasten the Knock Sensor with 18 n.m (13 lb ft) of torque. First install the heat shield and secure its bolts to a torque of 60 n.m (44 lb ft) before reconnecting the Knock Sensor wiring harness electrical connector. Finally, fill the cooling system.
