2008 Cadillac STS Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace an emblem or nameplate on 2008 Cadillac STS?
A: Before putting on a new emblem you need to cover and tape your surface then set alignment tape for installation. Apply a J 25070 (Heat Gun) at 152mm distance and rotate it in circles over the surface of the emblem or nameplate for 30 seconds to warm it up. Use a plastic flat tool for gentle removal of the emblem or nameplate. Use a 3M(TM) P/N 07501 molding adhesive remover disk for body panels or a lint-free cloth with VMP naphtha and 50/50 isopropyl alcohol for plastic panels to get rid of adhesives. Wipe the installation space with the cleaned cloth and solution until it becomes entirely dry. Apply tape over the installation area and label it when no markings exist. The J 25070 (Heat Gun) should raise mounting surface temperature to 27-41 degrees Celsius (80-105 degrees Fahrenheit). Press the emblem or nameplate into position at between 85 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit once the adhesive backing reaches 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Put the nameplate or emblem onto the designated spot by matching the marks before pressing it hard onto the surface and apply uniform pressure across the whole bond area. After that, take away the protective tape from the area where you want to install the badge.
