Cadillac STS Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace an emblem or nameplate on Cadillac STS?
A: Before you install a new emblem/nameplate stick tape on the mounting surface and use other tape to create alignment marks. Set the J 25070 (Heat Gun) over the emblem/nameplate surface for 30 seconds with a circular motion while keeping it 152 mm apart to reach the appropriate temperature. Stay careful to prevent harm to the panel's outside surface. Your plastic flat scraper will safely pop off the emblem/nameplate from its plastic panel mounting spot. Use the 3M(TM) Scotch Brite model adhesive removed disk P/N 07501 to extract residue from body panels while a Varnish Makers and Painters cloth dipped in naphtha or a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water efficiently cleans plastic panels. Clean the replacement area on your emblem/nameplate without any dust particles present. Clean the application area using the same lint-free cloth dipped in cleaning solution and let it air dry before starting. Place tape on the surface to show where you should install the emblem/nameplate when you do not have marks. To properly position the replacement emblem/nameplate press the J 25070 Heat Gun against the mounting surface keeping it at 80-105°F and verify that the emblem/nameplate stays near 85-90°F without touching its adhesive backing. Stick the nameplate onto the chosen area following the installed marks. Press it gently onto the surface using equal force across the entire label. Take away the covering tape from the mounting area.
