How to replace the Steering Angle Sensor or Steering Shaft Lower Bearing (without JL7) on 2008 Cadillac STS?

Draining the sir system becomes the first step before replacing the Steering Angle Sensor or steering shaft lower bearing. Start by disconnecting the Steering Column from your vehicle's frame. Drain the fluid inside the boot seal and separate the steering shaft seal from the sensor retainer which is attached to the sensor locator that sits on the steering shaft. Proceed by removing the Steering Angle Sensor and adapter and bearing assembly from the steering jacket assembly. Install the adapter and bearing assembly to the steering jacket assembly as a starting point. Installation requires placement of the Steering Angle Sensor and sensor locator and sensor retainer and steering shaft seal and boot seal onto the steering shaft. Position the Steering Column back into the vehicle before you enable the sir system.
