Start by turning the steering wheel for front wheel alignment before using j 42640 Steering Column anti-rotation pin to lock the Steering Column in position. Raise and support the vehicle. For proper installation keep a close eye on how the center intermediate shaft matches up with the lower intermediate shaft. Disconnect the two retaining bolts. The first one joins the center intermediate shaft with the lower intermediate shaft and the second bolt secures the lower intermediate shaft to the power steering gear. Extract the lower intermediate shaft from its connection with the power steering gear before removing it from the center intermediate shaft. To install the lower intermediate shaft use these steps: connect it first to the center intermediate shaft before attaching it to the power steering gear. First secure the power steering gear retaining bolt at 50 n.m torque (37 lb ft) then install and torque the center intermediate shaft retaining bolt to 30 n.m (23 lb ft). Put down your vehicle and extract the j 42640 through the Steering Column lower trim cover access hole.
