How to replace the shock absorber (W/F55) on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

The first step for Shock Absorber (W/F55) replacement involves vehicle elevation followed by support. The procedure begins by removing the tire and wheel assembly together with the elimination of the rear shock electronic suspension control (ESC) harness connector and its pigtail from the upper shock tower clip. The process begins by taking off the lower Shock Absorber to lower control arm retaining bolt and continuing with removal of upper Shock Absorber mounting bolts. Safely extract the Shock Absorber from the vehicle while following correct routing patterns of esc connector and pigtail through the upper shock tower. First separate the insulator retainer along with insulator from the Shock Absorber. Install the Shock Absorber by connecting its upper insulator retainer to its insulator while orienting the esc connector to face inwards and the white bottom bracket paint mark to face outwards at 180 degrees from the bracket to esc connector axis. The Shock Absorber installation requires placing it on both the shock tower and lower control arm while securing the upper Shock Absorber bolts to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) torque value but leave the lower control arm nut untorqued. Attach the lower Shock Absorber mounting bolt then tighten the lower Shock Absorber retaining nut to 145 n.m (107 lb ft). Return the suspension knuckle to the outer tie rod then fasten the upper shock tower clip to the harness pigtail and the rear shock esc harness connecter. After completing the tire-wheeled installation process, lower the vehicle.
