2008 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear Transmission Oil Cooler Hose on 2008 Cadillac XLR?
A: Begin the replacement of the rear transmission fluid cooler pipe by raising and supporting the vehicle. Take out the reinforcement material which belongs to the floor panel tunnel panel. The system needs immediate plugging or capping of open transmission oil cooler (TOC) pipes since front toc inlet and outlet lines connect to the rear toc inlet and outlet lines close to the engine Starter motor. The related maintenance requires disconnection of toc inlet and outlet lines from their rear connection points followed by capping or plugging the exposed toc pipes. The removal of the toc block fitting bolt from the transmission housing allows rotation of the toc block fitting to detach the upper toc pipe. The upper and lower toc pipes require removal from the transmission while sealing its fittings or pumping the toc pipes to maintain system cleanliness. Works begin with unscrewing the forward toc pipe bracket bolt along with the forward toc pipe bracket then continue with the rear toc pipe bracket bolt followed by the rear toc pipe bracket removal. Take out all toc pipes from the vehicle body. To install the toc pipes position all parts before fastening the rear toc pipe bracket bolt to 12 n.m (9 lb ft). The forward toc pipe bracket needs to be installed along with its bolt torqued to 12 n.m (9 lb ft). Before connecting upper and lower toc pipes to the transmission remove all caps or plugs from these particular pipes and their transmission fittings. The upper toc pipe becomes secure when rotating the toc block fitting before bolting it to the transmission housing while tightening to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Insert the toc pipes through their fittings while joining front and rear toc lines together. Lower the vehicle before checking the transmission fluid level and adding fluid if required. Install the floor panel tunnel panel reinforcement afterward.
