2009 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the upper transmission oil cooler hose on 2009 Cadillac XLR?
A: One must begin the transmission fluid cooler upper pipe assembly replacement operation by extracting the refrigerant from the a/c system then supporting and elevating the vehicle. The first step requires users to remove the wheelhouse panel and disconnect and remove the lower transmission oil cooler (TOC) line from the Radiator before taking off the A/C Compressor. Disassemble the procedure by first disconnecting the lower toc line from the auxiliary toc then proceeding to remove the accessory belt tensioner with its mounting bolts. After removing the A/C Compressor and power steering pump bracket elevate the engine cradle into its proper place without locking the cradle nuts. After installation of the rh cradle mounting nuts you can remove the support jacks while lowering the vehicle. Position the engine support fixture and elevating the vehicle 0.61 mm (2.0 ft) into the air while using jack stands to stabilize the engine cradle. Begin by disconnecting the nuts from the rh cradle mounting followed by lowering the rh engine cradle assembly then removing the rh Engine Mount upper and lower nuts together with the rh Engine Mount bracket bolts. The j 28467-b lifting tool should be used to raise the engine assembly before removing the rh Engine Mount bracket followed by the rh Engine Mount and its accompanying heat shield. The task requires removal of toc line to oil pan retaining nuts and clips together with upper and lower toc retainer clip disconnect as well as front toc line disconnection from the rear toc line set and the oil level sensor electrical connector (noting all part positions for correct reinstallation). To install the system, start with layout of toc lines then connect the oil level sensor electrical connector before attaching the front toc lines to the rear toc line set and finally install retaining clips at both upper and lower front toc lines and toc line to oil pan portions. Insert the toc line to oil pan retaining nuts before tightening them to 12 nm (9 lb ft). The vehicle descent process must place the locating dowel into correct position prior to installing the rh Engine Mount, heat shield and bracket, with bracket bolts requiring a torque of 58 nm (43 lb ft). The tool j 28467-b allows lowering the engine assembly into position so tighten the rh Engine Mount lower and upper nuts to 58 nm (43 lb ft). Attach the A/C Compressor with power steering pump bracket using bolts that should be tightened to 50 nm (37 lb ft). The accessory belt tensioner requires installation followed by a sequential tightening procedure of the top and lower bolts which must reach 25 nm (18 lb ft). First install the lower toc line to the auxiliary toc device then direct it to the Radiator and finally connect it to the wheelhouse panel. Finish by lowering the car before evacuating and recharging the a/c system while checking the transmission fluid level for possible addition of fluid.
