2008 Chevrolet Colorado Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on 2008 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: You need a Heat Gun (J 25070) and the 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) to repair the front side door emblem on a Colorado. Start your work by wrapping tape near the door emblem to keep it safe and in position. Use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to heat the emblem/nameplate at 152 mm (6 inches) away for 30 seconds by rotating it in circles. Use a plastic tool to carefully take off the emblem/nameplate together with all the adhesive left on both the door panel and back of the emblem/nameplate. Clean the door surface with liquid VMP mix made for varnishes and painting. Mark the location with tape at 166 mm (6.54 inches) down and 117.4 mm (4.62 inches) across from the door bottom to install the emblem/nameplate. Warm the door panel with the Heat Gun to achieve at least 70°F (21°C) temperature without touching the adhesive backing. Press the emblem/nameplate front section directly onto the door panel by removing its backing while you keep removing the other part. Press and roll the emblem/nameplate to secure it properly before inspecting for good bonding and then removing the protective tape around the door emblem.
