2008 Chevrolet Corvette Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: You start power vacuum Brake Booster replacement by taking off the car's battery negative terminal. Twist off the protective cap from the radiator surge tank upper stud before unscrewing the top nut and loosening the side nut without detaching the inlet and outlet hoses. Move the radiator surge tank upward and forward until you can access its electrical connector the Brake Fluid Level Sensor. Free the master cylinder by pulling off its nuts from the Brake Booster then safely set aside the master cylinder keeping the brake hoses connected. Pull the vacuum hose off the booster check valve and detach the instrument panel lower trim panel. First take off the Brake Pedal position sensor and continue by removing the retainer washer Brake Pedal pin and Brake Booster pushrod from the pedal. When present remove the screw on the telescoping column motor mounting bracket and place the motor assembly to the right. Push the Brake Booster aside between the studs while taking out the mounting nuts and washers from the booster studs to slide it straight out. Examine both the booster seal and its attachment surfaces first then replace the seal as needed when you finish removing the Brake Booster and seal from the cowl compartment. Set the Brake Booster in position at the dash front section before installing the Brake Booster mounting nuts and washers onto the booster studs at 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Connect the Brake Booster pushrod and Brake Pedal pin components back to their usual position while making sure the retainer engages fully. Place the Brake Pedal position sensor in its correct location and readjust the telescoping column motor assembly if available before locking the motor mounting bracket screw to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Place back the instrument panel lower trim panel and join the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to its check valve before fitting the master cylinder to the booster and fastening mounting nuts at 29 n.m (21 lb ft). Install the Brake Fluid Level Sensor power connector then position the radiator surge tank onto its studs and tighten both top and side nuts to 71 lb in (8 N.m). Finish by putting back the radiator surge tank protective cap then link the battery negative cable and set up the transmitter interfaces.
