2008 Chevrolet Corvette Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing and hub on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: To begin hub and Wheel Bearing replacement work on this vehicle you must lift it and provide support. Take off the tire and wheel from their assembly before unplugging the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connection. Take apart the brakes and rotor before unconnecting the lower Control Arm's stabilizer shaft link. Place the lower Control Arm on a jackstand to keep it supported during the installation steps. The j 42188 ball joint separator helps you disconnect the outer tie rod ball stud from the Steering Knuckle and the lower ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle. Take out the hub and bearing from the Steering Knuckle after disconnecting Wheel Hub mounting bolts. Put the hub and bearing assembly into the Steering Knuckle. Then install Wheel Hub bolts and tighten them to 130 n.m (96 lb ft). Drop the jackstand once you secure the Control Arm ball stud to the Steering Knuckle. Put the Steering Knuckle tie rod ball stud through the outer steering linkage and apply it to the Steering Knuckle. First attach the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector before putting the stabilizer shaft link onto the lower Control Arm. Last, place the brake rotor and caliper in position. After completing the installation process lower the vehicle and put back the tire and wheel components.
