2007 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: First disconnect the battery and remove the protective cap from the radiator surge tank upper stud then loosen the upper nut and side nut without detaching inlet or outlet hoses. Move the surge tank above the radiator while setting it ahead and unplug the electrical adapter on the brake sensor module. Take the master cylinder out through its mounting points without breaking brake connections and put it safely on the side. First disconnect the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from the check valve before taking out the instrument panel lower trim and the Brake Pedal position sensor. Position the motor assembly to the right of the Steering Column by removing the Brake Pedal components including retainer, washer, pedal pin, booster pushrod, and if equipped the screw from the telescoping motor mounting bracket. Pull the Brake Booster directly from its position while shifting the booster laterally to release the studs from push-on mounting nuts. Check the Brake Booster seal and sealed areas for damage after you pull out the boosters and cowl seal. Install a new seal when required during installation. Position the Brake Booster seal and assembly toward the dash on the front side before you mount and tighten the booster studs' nuts with washers to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Reinsert the Brake Booster pushrod and Brake Pedal components beginning with the Brake Pedal pin followed by the washer and retainer onto the pedal. Rotate the retainer properly before adding the Brake Pedal position sensor. Insert the Steering Column motor screw onto the motor mounting bracket then fasten it at 7 n.m (62 lb in). Place the instrument panel lower trim back into position while securing and attaching the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to the check valve and the master cylinder to the booster using 29 n.m (21 lb ft) of torque. Connect the electrical connector to the fluid level sensor before putting the surge tank on mounting studs and installing both top and side nuts. Tighten these nuts to 8 n.m or 71 lb in. Install the protective cap on the radiator surge tank upper stud then connect the battery negative cable and enter transmitter programming information.
