2007 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step to replace the brake pressure modulator valve is to disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir together with its bracket. The first step is to position the ignition switch to off before disconnecting the wiring harness connector from the ebcm/ebtcm to protect the components from damage. Let the high-speed lan control modules deactivate completely by waiting at minimum 2 minutes with off positioned on the ignition switch. You should disconnect the electronic brake control module ebcm harness connector followed by removing the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) pump motor ground wire. First disconnect the brake pipes at three points where the master cylinder connects to the bpmv then the bpmv connects to each front wheel caliper and to each rear wheel caliper while marking their locations. The brake fluid pressure sensor electrical connector must be disconnected before removing its two insulator nuts. Remove the ebcm/bpmv assembly piece first before taking out the insulator bolt and four ebcm-to-bpmv mounting bolts so you can separate the ebcm from the bpmv while being cautious about the seal which can potentially be reused if the component remains intact. When installing the bpmv you should first use alcohol to clean its seal surface before you can put in the seal only when it remains intact. Keep shipping plugs installed to the outlets of the ebcm during bpmv attachment until installation completion. Install four retaining bolts to the ebcm and bpmv combination with 5 n.m torque setting followed by the insulator mounting bolt set to 14 n.m torque specification. Install the ebcm/bpmv onto the vehicle bracket as before then fasten all two insulator nuts to 12 n.m (106 lb in) torque and link the brake fluid pressure sensor electrical connector. Tighten brake pipe fittings to 16 n.m (12 lb ft) in their initial installation points on the bpmv. Use a torque wrench to tighten the ground to bpmv pump motor while connecting the harness connector of ebcm. Perform this step only when both components are fully engaged. You must reinstall the power steering fluid reservoir together with its bracket while performing the hydraulic brake system fill and bleed followed by the automated bleed procedure and symptoms - antilock brake system diagnostics.
