The replacement of abs control modules in lh2 - 8 cyl, 4.6l, dohc, ho vehicles demands a off position Ignition Switch before disconnecting the negative Battery Cable to avoid harming the ABS Control Module/ebtcm units. Angling the ignition key to off will activate a 2-minute waiting time for high-speed lan control modules to become inoperative. Before you begin the replacement you should disconnect the negative Battery Cable while cleaning the ABS Control Module to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area and raise the vehicle. The ABS Control Module and connector will be more accessible after removal of the two bpmv bracket-to-crossmember mounting bolts so stabilize the abs modulator assembly. Route the electrical connector away from the brake fluid pressure sensor while using a finger to activate the lock mechanism and simultaneously push the cam until it disconnects the ABS Control Module connector. House the two bpmv retaining bolts then work to detach the ABS Control Module unit from the bpmv pack. The bpmv sealing surface needs denatured alcohol cleaning before you place the ABS Control Module motor connector into position and install the ABS Control Module onto the bpmv while aligning electrical terminals. The 4 bolts should be installed diagonally across the device and tightened to reaching 5 n.m (44 lb in). Connect the ABS Control Module electrical connector while making sure the cam is in proper position before attaching the brake fluid pressure sensor connector. Tighten the two bolts attaching the bpmv bracket to the crossmember until they reach 27 n.m (20 lb ft), before lower the vehicle while also reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. When replacing an ABS Control Module the programming steps must be completed then a diagnostic system check must run to verify proper system functionality.

The first step in repairing the ABS Control Module requires an off position on the ignition switch and complete negative Battery Cable removal. Start by raising and supporting the vehicle before cleaning the surroundings of the ABS Control Module and the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) free of dust accumulation. After disconnecting the ABS Control Module electrical connector you need to remove its bolts. The ABS Control Module should glide smoothly from the bpmv without employing any pry or force on the components. Apply denatured alcohol for cleaning the mating surfaces between ABS Control Module and bpmv before they turn dry. When installing press the ABS Control Module directly onto the bpmv without applying unnecessary force to join the parts. Secure the ABS Control Module bolts by using a cross pattern sequence when tightening them to 3 nm (27 lb in). The negative Battery Cable regains its position while connecting the ABS Control Module electrical connector. Services programming system (SPS) must be used to program a newly installed ABS Control Module. Conduct the diagnostic system check - vehicle as the last step to complete the process.

The replacement of the ABS Control Module can begin when the ignition switch is switched off to avoid harming ABS Control Module components. The high-speed lan control modules need at least 2 minutes for deactivation following an ignition switch off. First disconnect the negative Battery Cable and then use a brush to eliminate dirt from the surroundings of the ABS Control Module and brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV). Elevate and stabilize the vehicle before unfastening the two bolts which anchor the bpmv bracket to the crossmember to reach both the ABS Control Module and connector. You should support the abs modulator assembly then disconnect the electrical connector from the brake fluid pressure sensor before releasing its cam to unplug the ABS Control Module electrical connector. Separate the ABS Control Module from the bpmv by removing its 4 ABS Control Module-to-bpmv retaining bolts in a precise manner. Before installation you must first clean the sealing surface of the bpmv with a shop cloth and denatured alcohol. Then attach the motor connector to the ABS Control Module and carefully align its electrical terminals while fixing the ABS Control Module to the bpmv. The 4 ABS Control Module-to-bpmv retaining bolts should be added in a crosswise pattern before tightening them to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Secure the lock tab of the ABS Control Module while you connect its electrical connector and do the same with the brake fluid pressure sensor electrical connector. The two bpmv bracket-to-crossmember mounting bolts should be installed next before lowering the vehicle and reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Tighten the bolts to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). The installation of a new module requires necessary programming for the replacement component.

Carefully separate the EBCM from the BPMV after removing the retaining bolts.

Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Clean the BPMV seal surface with alcohol and install the seal if it is intact.

Place the EBCM/BPMV back into the bracket and install the 2 insulator nuts, tightening them to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).

Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake fluid pressure sensor and remove the two insulator nuts.
