A replacement of the Crankshaft Position Sensor begins with disconnecting the vehicle's negative Battery Cable. Lift the vehicle while removing the Starter from its position. After disconnecting the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector you must thoroughly clean the ckp area so no contaminants can enter the engine. Start by removing both the retaining bolt and sensor of the crankshaft positioning device. Reposition the ckp sensor into place followed by tightening a 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque bolt. Lower the vehicle after reattaching the negative Battery Cable but before returning the Starter. Then reconnect the ckp sensor electrical connector. Complete the transmitter programming followed by executing the ckp system variation learn procedure.
