2008 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the knock sensor on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?
A: When replacing a knock sensor start by disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the front and rear knock sensors based on replacement needs. Strip the front knock sensor clip away from the oil level indicator tube and separate the rear knock sensor clip from the intake manifold brace when needed. Detach the appropriate knock bolt from the sensor and remove the knock sensor. Before fastening the sensor, the pigtail requires a 90-degree rotation from its vertical position. Position the correct knock sensor on the engine block then tighten its bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). The installer should replace both knock sensor clips if they need to reconnect to the oil level indicator tube and the intake manifold brace. The engine wiring harness electrical connector must be reinstalled for both front and rear knock sensors.
