2008 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the auxiliary A/C expansion valve on 2008 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: Start the auxiliary air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve replacement process by recovering the refrigerant with the help of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Start by removing the left lower quarter trim panel together with the foam wrap that covers the auxiliary thermal expansion valve (TXV). Start by removing screws on the auxiliary txv line clamp which are in the hvac module assembly and afterward detach the clamp and the bolt securing the auxiliary txv line block fitting. The technician should retrieve the refrigerant using the j 39400-a halogen leak detector then detach the a/c lines from the auxiliary txv and properly cap or tape the open a/c refrigerant lines immediately to prevent contamination. The technician must first seal the a/c lines then remove the auxiliary txv to Evaporator core bolts and extract the auxiliary txv from the Evaporator core while capping or taping the Evaporator core lines. The technician discards the sealing washers as well. The installation process requires removing tape or caps from Evaporator lines then adding new sealing washers on top of them. Mount the Evaporator core auxiliary txv while tightening its mounting bolts to exactly 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). The a/c lines require new sealing washers before installation and should be connected to the auxiliary txv. Secure the auxiliary txv line block fitting through the retaining bolt then tighten to 11 n.m (97 lb in). After that, mount the auxiliary txv line clamp onto the hvac module assembly before clamping the screw with a torque of 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). The procedure includes attaching new foam insulation onto the auxiliary txv and performing vacuum-evacuation and the recharge steps on the a/c system followed by checking for leaks with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Install the left lower quarter trim panel as the last installation step.
