2009 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the left side engine mount on an AWD on 2009 Cadillac CTS?
A: A technician must first secure the Steering Wheel to stop its rotation due to the danger it poses to the sir system when replacing the left side Engine Mount on awd vehicles. To start you must disconnect the battery ground cable followed by removal of the cross vehicle brace then the exhaust system. Following the right and left lower Engine Mount retaining nuts there is a need to disconnect the lower intermediate Steering Shaft from the steering gear before setting it aside. The first step is to remove the upper Engine Mount retaining nut followed by installing a screw jack under the Oil Pan and another screw jack under the rear section of the front frame. After removing rear frame mounting bolts the technician will lower the rear section of the frame by loosening front frame bolts 12.7 mm (0.5 in) to 25.4 mm (1 in). Lower the screw jack beneath the frame after lifting the engine until the weight rests off the mount. Then remove the Engine Mount from the vehicle. Install the new Engine Mount in its proper location and raise the framework's rear portion before fitting but not tightening the mounting bolts of the frame rear and center. Tighten the frame bolts in a sequence beginning with the left front and right front then the center front and ending with the rear front bolts to 191 nm (141 lb ft). After removing the screw jacks, install the upper Engine Mount retaining nut to 80 nm (59 lb ft) torque value and proceed with right and left lower Engine Mount retaining nut torques of 80 nm (59 lb ft). The technician should reconnect the lower intermediate Steering Shaft to the steering gear then install the exhaust system and lower the vehicle before installing the cross vehicle brace and finally reconnecting the battery ground cable.
