• Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2009 Cadillac CTS?

  A: To replace engine front cover, one must remove engine cover and in models that use engines lp1 and ly7 engines take the upper Intake Manifold together with the lower Intake Manifold. Take off the Intake Manifold for llt engines. After that, take out the camshaft covers, drain the engine coolant, unplug the purge vent hose from the water outlet and take out the water outlet with the Radiator Hose. Then, remove accessory drive belts, then A/C Compressor and power steering belts and tensioner, then remove the generator bracket with the generator and belt tensioner leaving the power steering pipes connected. Reposition the power steering fluid reservoir for access; remove the power steering pump pulley; move the power steering pump upper front bolt there is some loosening the rest. Following that, the crankshaft balancer, camshaft position sensors, and camshaft position actuator solenoid valves should be removed from the front cover. Go ahead and remove the engine front cover and the Water Pump and dismantle them while remembering to clean the sealing surfaces with no cause to use rough or metal scrapers. Use compressed air to clear all coolant from the engine from the cooling passages as well as oil pan scraper. For installation, install the engine front cover as per the en 46109, install the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves and camshaft position sensors before the crankshaft balancer. Follow by reinstalling the power steering pump and pulley, then power steering fluid reservoir, then the generator bracket with the generator and belt tensioner.
