2009 Cadillac SRX Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the liftgate emblem/nameplate on 2009 Cadillac SRX?
A: Start fixing the liftgate emblem/nameplate by readying your Heat Gun model J 25070. Start by shielding and aligning the emblem/nameplate using tape as a barrier. Apply heat from the Heat Gun J 25070 at a 152 mm (6 in) distance for 30 seconds by moving the gun in circles over the emblem/nameplate. Plug a small plastic tool into the emblem/nameplate to lift them off gently without injuring the paint. Use a 3M TM Scotch Brite molding adhesive disk part number 07502 on body panels or wipe plastic panels with a lint-free cloth using VMP naphtha or isopropyl alcohol mixed with water at equal rates. Prepare a clean and dry workspace and position tape to mark installation points which should lie 130 mm (5.12 in) from the liftgate top line and 80 mm (3.12 in) from the left side. Export versions require moving the bottom mark 12 mm (0.5 in). Set the Heat Gun (J 25070) temperature between 27 and 41 degrees Celsius (80 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit) and make sure the emblem/nameplate registers at 29 to 32 degrees Celsius (85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit) before starting. Apply pressure to the emblem directly on its surface and safely peel away the covering liner to attach it to the indicated spots. Press equally on all parts to evenly stick the emblem/nameplate before checking if the bonds hold and rolling up any loose edges using your hands during tape removal from the installation area.
