• Q: How to replace the rear crossmember support on 2009 Cadillac XLR?

  A: Raising and support the vehicle before you remove the tire and wheel assemblies are the steps to be taken to replace the rear suspension support cross member. Deactivate the wheel speed sensor harness, park brake cables from the actuator levers, and electronic connectors from the electronic suspension control shock absorbers if installed. Remove the rear suspension position sensors and disconnect the inner tie rod end studs and lower Control Arm studs from the crossmember. Support the lower control arms, tie rods and rear suspension knuckles, and remove the transverse spring. Position a transmission jack under the Rear Crossmember and attach before removing the Rear Crossmember mounting nuts and taking the crossmember out of vehicle and disposing of the nuts. Use hand tools only. For installation aligning dowel pins of crossmember to the frame rails and transaxle mount studs only using new crossmember mounting nuts should be torqued to 110n.m (81 8b).ft). Incidentally, remove j 42055 along with the transmission and crossmember, then reconnect the electrical harness set and brake pipe retainers. Put in the transaxle mount lower nuts, transverse spring, lower control arms, inner tie rod end studs, and rear suspension position sensors. Connect the electrical connectors to esc shock absorber harness if equipped, park brake cables to the actuator levers, and wheel speed sensor harness connector. Finally, install the tire and the wheel assemblies, lower the vehicle, and check and adjust the rear trim height if necessary, and a rear-wheel alignment.
