2009 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear wheel bearing and hub on 2009 Cadillac XLR?
A: Lift the vehicle to start replacing its rear Wheel Bearing and hub. Take off the tire and wheel before disconnecting the wheel speed sensor and the esc rear position sensor elements. Take out the brake caliper and rotor before unplugging the shock absorber esc connector. Also detach the outer Tie Rod End from suspension knuckle. Detach the suspension knuckle from the lower Control Arm ball joint stud and the upper Control Arm from the suspension knuckle. Also remove and set aside the Spindle Nut and its washer plus the retainer nut. Extract the hub and bearing assembly from the suspension knuckle by taking out the hub mounting bolts initially from the vehicle. When installing the part make sure you use its designated Wheel Hub/wheel speed sensor because front and back sensors are specific to each other. Press the Wheel Hub with its bearing into the suspension knuckle and tighten Wheel Hub bolts to 130 nm (96 lb ft). Lock the suspension knuckle in its place first to the upper Control Arm and then to the lower Control Arm ball stud. To install the components run them in this order: the Spindle Nut, washer and retainer topped by the outer Tie Rod End stud to the suspension knuckle. Put back the brake rotor and caliper while connecting wheel speed sensor and shock absorber esc wires plus the esc sensor link. Place the tire and wheel on top and return the vehicle to its normal position.
