• Q: How to replace the Windshield Washer Pump on 2009 Cadillac XLR?

  A: Start the windshield Washer Pump replacement process by lifting the vehicle through jacking methods while ensuring the hoist stays away from the left front fender space. Save the fender alignment marks before you take out the left front wheel. At the wheelhouse back side take out the three fasteners 1 2 3 that secure the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Empty the Washer Pump output hose into a container then disconnect its electrical plug. Undo the Washer Pump by rotating it counterclockwise from its position in the washer solvent holder. Divide the Washer Pump rubber grommet into the washer solvent container and apply washer fluid to the pump body and grommet for easy installation. Press the pump body into the grommet until it returns to its normal position and join both electrical connector and Washer Pump output hose to the pump. Put the vehicle back in its original position while adding washer fluid to its reservoir. Check pump and sensor performance for leaks while aligning the fender to the body then putting back the left front wheelhouse protector and fasteners (1, 2, 3). Place the left front wheel properly at the end.
