How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2009 Chevrolet Impala?

Before starting the caliper replace job check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and reduce it to the midpoint if necessary. Lift and stabilize the vehicle before you take out the back tire and wheel part. Secure two wheel lug nuts by hand to keep the rotor attached to the hub. After putting an adjustable c-clamp above the brake caliper and tightening it against the back of the outboard Brake Pad the caliper piston will move into the bore and let the caliper slide off the rotor. Take off the c-clamp along with the brake hose-to-caliper bolt to discard the 2 gaskets made from copper. Block the brake hose opening with a plug to keep fluid from leaking and contaminating before you detach button 1 and 3 bolts to take the caliper off the rotor and its bracket. Look for serviceable conditions in the caliper bracket bolt boots and order new ones when they are not in good shape. Verify the caliper bolts for damage or rust then replace them both with fresh parts as needed. Install the caliper by placing it first over the rotor and then over the bracket making sure bushings are present. Use silicone grease to coat caliper bolts 1 and 3 without applying it to the threads. Also apply grease to the 2 bolt boots (13 and 4) in the caliper bracket . Position the caliper bolts at 1 and 3 locations before tightening them to 44 nm (32 lb ft). See to it that rubber bolt boots block properly and stay in position without damaging their surfaces. Install new brass brake gaskets when you put together the brake hose bolt along with the copper brake hose gaskets to make the brake hose connector. Tighten the brake hose-to-caliper bolt to 40 lb ft (54 Nm). Replace the 2 wheel hub nuts then put on the tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle. Add clean brake fluid to the master cylinder until it reaches its proper level then we must test the brake system and check for brake fluid leakages.
