2009 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2009 Chevrolet Impala?
A: During the replacement of the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, one has to empty the cooling system. Next, if needed, take off the cover for the intake manifold. Then, remove the exhaust crossover. Remove the ECT sensor irrespective of its connection with the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Disconnect the related ECT sensor. When installing the new ECT sensor, cover the threads with sealer GM P/N 13246004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent ones and tighten it to 20 Nm (15 lb ft). Next, plug the ECT electrical connector, if you had to remove the intake manifold cover, reattach it, and then reattach the exhaust crossover. Lastly, top up the cooling system to conclude the procedure.
