The repair process for the steering gear heat shield starts with vehicle elevation. Start by detaching the stabilizer shaft links then turn the stabilizer shaft in a downward direction. The installation starts by removing the plastic clip from the power steering gear heat shield before uninstalling the retaining bolts followed by removing the heat shield itself. Place the new power steering gear heat shield in position before you install its retaining bolts with a torque of 9 nm (80 lb in). Install the stabilizer shaft links then lower the vehicle while rejoining the plastic clip to the heat shield.
