  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
    A: To replace the Oil Pan, it is necessary to removeistic the negative cable of the battery. Remove the Engine Mount struts and fit the engine support fixture. Then, remove the Catalytic Converter, the Oil Pan Drain Plug, drain the crankcase, then reinstall the Drain Plug. Disassemble the oil filter adapter and Starter, then take off the A-C Compressor by its nut and bolt, put it to one side. And disconnect the oil level sensor electrical connector, and remove the engine harness clips off the Oil Pan and transaxle brace. Take out the lower bolts of front transaxle brace to engine, lower nuts of Engine Mount and loosen the lower transaxle mount bolts. After pulling the rear transaxle brace to engine-Oil Pan bolts, it lowers the vehicle, then raises the engine with the fixture support. Between and behind the ditto remove the steering shaft intermediate pinch bolt, engine mount bracket bolts and then you may remove the Engine Mount and bracket. The right side lower Ball Joint and outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle alongside the right side stabilizer link. Install jackstands to the frame, unbolts the right side frame, and rigged down the left side frame bolts prior to lowering the right side. However, use the j 39505 to remove the right side Oil Pan side bolts, the left side Oil Pan side bolts, and the Oil Pan bolts, and pull out the Oil Pan and gasket. Clean oil flanges of the Oil Pan, Oil Pan rail, front cover, rear main bearing cap, and threaded holes. Spray sealer on both sides of the crankshaft rear main bearing cap and put a new Oil Pan Gasket. Place the Oil Pan over the engine and secure the Oil Pan bolts with 25 nm (18 lb ft). Install the left side Oil Pan side bolts, then using the j 39505, install the right side Oil Pan side bolts tightening them to 50 nm (37 lb ft) plus 50 degrees. Lift up the right side of the frame to its original location and install the right side frame bolts and tighten left and right side of frame bolts. Take off the jackstands and lower the right side link stabilizer, followed with the right lower outer tie rod and lower Ball Joint to the Steering Knuckle. Place the Engine Mount and bracket to the Oil Pan, and then install the Engine Mount bracket screws into the designated holes, tightening them up to a torque of 50 nm (37 lb ft). Install the steering shaft intermediate pinch bolt, let the vehicle low, using engine support fixture let engine low. Lift the vehicle and torque the rear transaxle brace to engine-Oil Pan bolts to 63 nm (46 lb ft), and the Engine Mount lower nuts to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Tighten the transaxle mount lower nuts, the front transaxle brace and the brace to engine bolts, while tightening them up to 63 nm (46 lb ft). Connect the oil level sensor electric connector and put the engine harness clips onto the Oil Pan and transaxle brace. Put the A-C Compressor in place, attach its nut and bolt, tighten it up to 50 nm (37 lb ft), and then the A-C Compressor rear bolt. Induce the Starter and oil filter adapter initially and then the Catalytic Converter. Lower the vehicle from the engine hoist, remove the engine support fixture, install the Engine Mount struts, add new engine oil to the crankcase, and, finally, plug in the negative Battery Cable.
