2010 GMC Savana 1500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing, hub, and seal on a 4WD on 2010 GMC Savana 1500?
A: Before replacing the front wheel components on a 4wd vehicle you need to elevate and support the vehicle. First pull the tire then wheel. Then remove the rotor. Unbolt the Wheel Hub cap and the wheel driveshaft sections including its nut and washer. With the j 45859 (Axle Remover) tool remove the wheel driveshaft connection from the hub and bearing system. Separate the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt and sensor from their position on the Wheel Hub and bearing. You need to unfasten the Wheel Hub and bearing bolts before taking out the hub assembly, bearing, and splash shield from the Steering Knuckle. Apply Wheel Bearing grease inside the Steering Knuckle's bore after removing its surface contaminants and rust. Push the Wheel Hub and bearing onto its proper position on the Steering Knuckle while connecting both mounting bolts. Use a torque wrench to tighten these bolts to 180 nm. Install the Wheel Speed Sensor with its bolt at 18 nm (13 lb ft) torque. Attach the wheel driveshaft retaining nut and washer first and then secure it at 210 nm force before adding the front axle hub cap. Replace the tire and wheel then the rotor onto their proper position and lower the vehicle.
