Before changing the front side door hinge one should use masking tape to protect both fender and door edges from paint damage. Keep the door inside the vehicle when performing hinge replacement. Begin by opening the door while supporting it before you clean around the hinge area and make marks using a grease pencil. When replacing a broken upper hinge the process starts with removing the door-side bolts sequentially (1,4) and continuing with the hinge pillar side bolts (1,4,5). Remove the bolts from the door side beginning with (3, 2) before removing the bolts from the hinge pillar side also in sequence (3, 2) when the lower hinge requires replacement. Mount the new hinge onto the door by positioning it according to the markings on both the hinge pillar and door. Apply torque to 33 N.m (24 lb ft) when installing lower hinge bolts on the hinge pillar side in sequence (3, 2). The door side lower hinge bolts need to be installed next in the order (3, 2) and should be tightened to match the specified torque.
