How to service and repair the water pump on Buick Regal?

The Water Pump service needs a partial drain of the cooling system before you start. Position the accessory block out of the way before you undo the Water Pump Pulley bolt with the hose clamp pliers (J38185). You should first take off the Water Pump bolts and the Water Pump Pulley afterwards. After removing Power Steering Pump bolts you can position its supply location and unscrew all Water Pump bolts including the Water Pump unit. Before installing the new Water Pump make sure to clean and inspect both surfaces where the gasket used to be placed. Use the torque angle meter (J36660-A) to add new gasket and Water Pump to their positions. Install the bolts with specified torque using the meter and stop at these values: tighten long bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) plus 40 degrees and short bolts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) plus 80 degrees. Place the Water Pump Pulley and loosely install its bolts before putting back the Power Steering Pump with its mounting hardware. Reattach the belt and screw in the Water Pump Pulley bolts until they reach a torque force of 13 nm (15 inch lbs.). Put back the accessory wiring junction block before adding coolant and looking for any fluid leaks.
