  Q: How to replace the Brake Light Switch for Cruise Control on Buick Rendezvous?

  A: The Cruise Control release switch replacement process begins by taking out the insulator from the left side of the instrument panel. Turn the cruise control release switch counter to the limit of travel (about 60 degrees) before removing it from the retainer. First disconnect the electrical connector which operates the cruise control release switch. After connection of the electrical connector with the index notch positioned at the 10 o'clock mark install the switch into its retainer by moving it until its plunger reaches full depression into the barrel without touching or engaging the brake pedal. Turn the switch to the right until it encounters its stopping point then the electrical connector index notch should point to 12 o'clock. Perform a check on the cruise control system for proper operation after which you should reinstall the left side instrument panel insulator.
