To service and repair the Valve Stem Oil Seal and replace the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring; first of all make sure the Piston in the cylinder is at top dead center (TDC) in order to avoid dropping the valve into the cylinder. First, loosen the
Spark Plug and clean the Spark Plug recess area. Take away the Spark Plug and the valve
Rocker Arm. Next, connect the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) in the Spark Plug port and apply compressed air to control the valves. Use valve spring compressor (J 38606) on valve spring, compress and remove the valve locks, valve cap, and valve spring, check spring for damage. Continue to install the new Valve Stem Oil Seal, then proceed to fix the valve spring, and the valve cap. Refit the valve spring by compressing it again with the valve spring compressor (J 38606) and install the valve locks, applying grease if needed to keep them locked in position. Let the valve spring loose and test if the locks are seated correctly. Lastly, blow off the air pressure and detach the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) from the Spark Plug port, replace the valve Rocker Arm and Spark Plug.
