The tools needed to fix valve guide seals and valve springs on the left side are j 38820 no. 147 (Valve Guide Seal Remover & Installer), j 39313 no. 121 (Spark Plug Port Adapter), j 43059 no. 73 (Valve Keeper Installer), j 44211 no. 125 (Valve Spring Compressor), and j 44214 no. 4 (Flywheel Holder). Start your task by taking off both
Camshafts before lifting the vehicle on stands. First remove the connecting brace between the
Oil Pan and transaxle and next detach the torque converter cover. Set up the j 44214 tool and lower the vehicle onto the ground. Fit the j 44211 base plate properly on top of the Spark Plug opening to begin the process. Position the j 39313 inside the Spark Plug hole then use compressed air to hold the valve shut for continuous pressure. Position the j 44211 arm and swivel nut over the specified valve stud then partially tighten the swivel nut until you can reach and unthread the steel valve locks using a magnet. Turn the swivel nut loose until you can swing the arm away to gain access to the valve spring retainer and spring. Utilize j 38820 to pick up and get rid of the old valve guide seal while following safety measures. Install the new valve guide seal onto the valve stem through the j 38820 by twisting it while applying oil to valve stem and seal's diameter. Place the arm back over the valve retainer as you torque the swivel nut for valve lock access using j 43059 installation tool. Take out the swivel nut assembly of j 44211 and put it aside before repeating the same steps for other valves under service. Following valve work take the air pressure off while detaching the j 39313 and j 44211 base plate before placing back the Spark Plug. Perform these actions on all cylinders needing service until finished. Conclude by placing back left camshafts before lifting the vehicle using jacks. Then take off j 44214 while installing cover and fixing Oil Pan to the transaxle brace with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) torque.
