How to service and repair the left lifter/lash adjuster on Cadillac DeVille?

To service and repair left lifter/Lash Adjuster remove left group of valve rocker arms and then stationary hydraulic lash adjusters (SHLA) from bores. A valve lifter can be removed by pulling out its pin. It is then cleaned by removing any dirt, rust, and carbon particles and drying it before reinstallation. During the installation do not stroke/cycle the stationary hydraulic Lash Adjuster plunger with out the presence of oil in the lower pressure chamber. Fill the stationary hydraulic Lash Adjuster (SHLA) with clean engine oil gm p/n 12378006 or equivalent, being very careful not to touch the pivot sphere area of the shla so as not to scratch any part(s) of the shla. Lastly, against fit the new shla's into the bores and reassemble the left valve rocker arms.
