How to replace the Lash Adjusters on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The tools you need to replace the valve lifters include a valve lifter remover (J 3049-A). Start with the removal of the lower Intake Manifold, then move proceed with the valve rocker arms and valve pushrods, making sure to put these pieces in a rack for correct reinstallment. After that, unscrew the bolts and valve lifter Pushrod guide, and lay the valve lifters vertically in a rack to ensure oil in them. If there are stuck valve lifters caused by gum or varnish deposits, use the valve lifter remover (J 3049-A) for removal. Clean valve lifter bores with a solvent and shop towel to check for excessive wear or scoring of these bores and replace the engine block if required. Also, check the Camshaft wear or damage from it and if necessary, remove it for further inspection. Clean and inspect the valve lifters and valve Pushrod guide prior to installation. Thanks. Apply grease gm p/n 12345501 or equivalent to achievable valve lifter rollers, and if recurring the valve lifters, install them in their unusual positions. Mount and tighten the valve lifter Pushrod guides to16 nm (12 ft. Lbs), then the valve Rocker Arm and pushrods, and finally reinstall the lower Intake Manifold. This is normal for new lifters at their first engine starts; an increase in the rpm's can help lift the oil pressure and reduce the noise.
