You must drain the cooling system before replacing the Water Pump of 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. Unsnap the outlet air duct connections to the
Throttle Body and maf sensor before removing the radiator hose retaining clip from the outlet air duct and the entire air duct. Take off the engine sight shield and the radiator vent inlet hose by disconnecting them from the radiator hose clips when required. Untwist the hose clamp attached to the Water Pump and detach the inlet hose followed by the Fan Blade and accessory
Drive Belt. First position the outlet hose clamp at the Water Pump and remove the outlet hose. Then position the surge tank outlet hose clamp and discard the surge tank outlet hose. Unclamp and detach the heater inlet hose before you remove all Water Pump bolts and take out the assembly including its gaskets for disposal. Before installing the Water Pump place new gaskets on clean surface areas and put the pump in position. Fasten the Water Pump bolts at 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) before tightening them to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) as the final torque. Place back the heater inlet hose with its clamp followed by the surge tank outlet hose with its clamp then outlet hose with its clamp and install the accessory Drive Belt and Fan Blade. Install the engine vent inlet hose over the radiator hose clips before connecting the inlet hose back to its clamp as required. Secure the air cleaner outlet duct in place by aligning its Throttle Body end arrow mark with the attachment stud before closing the radiator inlet hose clip. Tighten each duct clamp at the Throttle Body and sensor to 4 nm while filling the cooling system.
