Cadillac Escalade Tailgate Latch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the tailgate latch on Cadillac Escalade?
A: Start by lowering the endgate before you loosen handle bolts and finally raise the endgate. Separate the handle bezel by pulling gently on its upper retainer tabs until the linkage rods become disengaged. Begin by lowering the endgate then remove the cable from side panel cable retainer bolts along with the bolt that maintains the latch assembly. You must remove the latch assembly from the endgate by disengaging the rod linkage from its assembly. Install the latch assembly to the vehicle by first engaging the linkage rod with the latch assembly and following the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Fits the latch assembly bolts before securing them at 25 N.m (18 lb ft) torque. Start by fitting cable sections to side panel cable retainer bolts followed by rod engagement before endgate elevation and endgate handle bezel application. Complete assembly through complete bezel seating followed by handle bolt torque to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Tighten all handle bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
